Thai Massage?

Thai Massage is a millennia-old (originating in India 2500 years ago) and sacred form of bodywork that resembles shiatsu and is related to Nadi Sutra Kriya. The theoretical basis for this style of bodywork is the existence of the “energy body” which includes “sen” or energy lines through which our life force flows. Thai Massage makes recipients feel more balanced physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually by incorporating acupressure, passive yoga therapy and reflexology along ten of the most important sen lines.
Throughout the massage, the Thai Practitioner will utilize their arms, elbows, hands, thumbs, legs, knees, feet and toes to administer compressions, place pressure on specific points and leverage body stretches. In addition the Practitioner moves the receivers’ body through a series of yoga-like positions and gently rocks the body to more deeply open joints and facilitate limbering. From these body manipulations, blockages are released and a free flow of energy is restored bringing with it an increased vitality and well being.

A Thai massage program provides benefits that assist a broad range of discomforts and stress related disorders. They are effective in treating headaches, shoulder and upper back tensions, joint and soft tissue injury, digestive upsets, insomnia and anxiety. A complete thai massage generally requires 90-120 minutes and includes working on limbs, fingers, toes, ears, cracking the knuckles, walking on the recipient's back, arching the recipient's back in a rolling action and twists. However, abbreviated routines still provide great benefits.
Thai massage is traditionally performed on a futon mat and the recipient preferably wears loose pajama like clothing. While the style is often provided in non-private rooms, at Oasis Thai Massage and Spa, each session is in a private (or couples) room and the recipient may choose the futon mat or standard massage table. We suggest you avoid heavy eating for 2 to 3 hours prior to the massage.
